Stained Glass Theatre’s Code of Ethics
In addition to the traditional “Theatrical Code of Ethics,” Stained Glass Theatre has found it advantageous to outline Christian ethics that are expected of those involved with Stained Glass Theatre. These are common Christian ethics that are necessary to ensure that harmony and good reputation are practiced inside and outside Stained Glass Theatre.
I will accomplish my work in an attitude of servanthood with humbleness. (Matthew 20:26-28; 22:39)
I will encourage an atmosphere of harmony. I will be a peacemaker and discourage gossip. I will keep in mind the old adage, “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all.”
I will strive to be an encourager. (Acts 15:32, I Thessalonians 5:11)
I will avoid establishments that may be questionable to others (bars, adult stores/clubs, etc.), knowing that this is not the best witness. I understand that even if I am not involved in actions that are questionable, by presence may lead others to the conclusion that I condone the questionable behavior. (Matthew 18:7)
I will not spread rumors or gossip about someone or talk behind their back. Even if I have something against them, I realize that it is better to confront them in a loving way. I will make sure my attitude is correct (one of love and helpfulness) before doing this.
I will remember that in most cases when I have something against someone, there has been a misunderstanding or they may not realize how they are acting or that their actions have hurt or offended me. (Proverbs 16:28)
I will not speak about Stained Glass Theatre, those involved in SGT, or SGT productions in a bitter, condemning or self-seeking way.
I will be conscientious in keeping SGT clean and beautiful. If I make a mess, I will clean it up; if I use something, I will put it away, etc.
I will respect the leadership of the Stained Glass Theatre Board of Directors.
The purpose of the Board is to govern, lead, and guide Stained Glass Theatre by the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
I will not sow dissension, discord or contention.
I will not lie. (Proverbs 6:16-19; Romans 16:17; Titus 3:10-11)
I will be actively involved in a church where I may receive encouragement and spiritual food. I realize that Stained Glass Theatre is not a church and that although SGT strives to uplift Christ and minister to others, they do not have the personnel to minister to all the needs of everyone.
I will strive to have a personal Bible-reading and prayer time each day, even if it is only for a short time. I understand that although God desires for us to spend much time with Him, He cherishes a little time rather than no time at all.
I will strive to follow and live by the precepts set forth in the Bible.
I believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, and that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; I Corinthians 6:9)
